Handicapped accessible cabins are reserved for people with mobility concerns or other medical conditions requiring things like wider doors and/or additional space needed to maneuver a wheelchair or electric scooter, grab bars, roll-in showers, etc. Generally speaking, cruise lines will not allow you to book these specific cabins online without the assistance of a Perkopolis Cruise Consultant, and even if they do, cruise lines reserve the right to move guests out of accessible cabins if they do not have a medical reason to occupy them. In most cases, proof of medical necessity is required and may need to be provided prior to confirming an accessible cabin. Please email us at sales@perkopoliscruise.com with your specific needs and our team will assist you.
Please let your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant know of any special dietary requirements or allergies you have. This includes, but is not limited to, low-fat, reduced sodium, vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal, etc. Not all cruise lines support all dietary requests, so if the ability of a cruise line to support your specific dietary request is a “requirement” for you to travel, please contact your cruise consultant BEFORE you book at sales@perkopoliscruise.com.
It’s generally best to book a cruise about 6 to 12 months before departure. That’s the safest way to balance availability and affordability. You can book earlier or later than that, with some last-minute cruise deals occasionally available up to one week before cruise sailing date.
We are here to answer your questions. Here are the best ways to contact us:
Yes, you can cancel, but there may be cancellation fees if you cancel. Some cruise fares have non-refundable deposits that cannot be refunded, regardless of when you cancel. Other cruise fares allow cancellation with a partial refund on a specific schedule, which is different for every cruise line. We recommend that you check the specific cruise line’s cancellation policies by visiting the cruise line’s website directly before you book. A way to mitigate this risk is to purchase travel insurance, which may be available by contacting your Cruise Consultant.
All cruise changes and/or cancellations must be processed by contacting your Cruise Consultant directly, or by emailing support@perkopoliscruise.com. Since this is a manual process, please contact your Cruise Consultant a minimum of 3 days prior to the cancellation dates published by the cruise line to avoid unnecessary penalties.
Dining times on cruise lines vary by cruise line. Some offer fixed seating at the same table and at the same time every night (i.e. early and late dining) and others offer more flexible dining options where you can dine anytime you like. To find out about your particular cruise line, you can visit the cruise line’s own website or just ask your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant.
Formal and themed evenings vary per cruise line. Typically, there are 1 formal night on a 3 to 5-day cruise and 2 formal nights on a 6 to 9-day cruise. Some cruise lines do not have formal nights at all. Those cruise lines are generally more “country club casual”, which means slacks, collared shirts and dress jeans/slacks for gentlemen and dress jeans/casual dress or blouse for ladies. Most cruise lines frown upon shorts and pool/beach sandals in the dining room, so keep that in mind. To find out about your particular cruise line please visit the cruise line’s direct website or contact your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant for more information.
Most cruise lines will automatically add a daily gratuity to your onboard account. Depending on the cruise line and the type of room you book, this fee is generally between $12.50 per person per day to as much as $22.50 per person per day. Most cruise lines will allow you to adjust the automatic gratuity (both higher for excellent service or lower if they did not meet your expectations). If you want to modify the amount of your automatic gratuity, you must visit the front desk to request all changes. To find out about your particular cruise line’s gratuity/service charge policy, you can visit the cruise line’s direct website or contact your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant for more information.
Most cruise lines require infants to be at least 6 months old to sail, with some longer or more exotic itineraries being at least 1 year old. Most cruise lines have children´s facilities, but thy will only allow children who are previously potty trained to use those facilities without a parent. A few cruise lines offer infant and toddler programs to kids who are not potty trained, but there is usually an additional cost for those services. Each cruise line has different policies, so our recommendation is to ask your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant before you book your cruise if you have any questions. sales@perkopoliscruise.com.
Most cruise lines strongly encourage you to check in on line day or weeks before departure. Doing so will help you navigate the lines at the cruise terminal much faster, so you can start having fun sooner. To find out about your particular cruise line’s check in information, you can visit the cruise line’s own website and log in with your booking number to view specific information in relation to your sailing.
Yes, cruises offer a great value proposition. Did you notice, we did not say “are cruises cheap”? “Cheap” and “Affordable” have different meanings for different people based on a number of factors (i.e. income, etc.) Cruises at all price levels represent an excellent value proposition. Whether you are looking for a basic “guys” or “girls” party trip or family vacation on the cheap, or a luxury 25th or 50th Anniversary trip with gourmet dining and butler service, Perkopolis Cruise can satisfy any budget level. Our site enables you to search for cruises and river cruises worldwide, filter and sort them any way you like (i.e. destination, budget, price, etc.), and book them efficiently online. And you can always rest assured that your Perkopolis Cruise Consultant will be there to assist you with all the details along the way to make your cruise as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
Simply put, cruising is like staying at a beach front hotel/resort that has different scenery every day when you wake up. Sounds great, right? Cruises can be as active or as relaxing as you want them to be. They can be as casual or as formal as you want them to be. You can sail with families with children and grandchildren, or you can sail on an adult-only cruise designed for ages 18 and above. Cruise ships come in all shapes and sizes. Some cruise lines offer massive live production shows and others offer smaller cabaret-like performances. Most cruise lines offer several dining options that are included in the price, and some additional specialty dining experiences (i.e. premium steak houses, continental cuisine and sushi/teppanyaki-style restaurants) for an additional fee. Many cruise ships even offer casinos when the ship is in international waters.
Waking up in a different Caribbean, Hawaiian or Tahitian island every day, or traveling through the historic Mediterranean or Far East without having to pack and un-pack, check-in and check-out of multiple hotels, take multiple trains, planes and automobiles to get from place to place while on vacation is one of the biggest benefits and conveniences of cruising.
So, what’s not to like about cruises? No vacation is perfect for everyone. Some people prefer the freedom to travel form place to place without a set schedule. Other travelers prefer to eat in local restaurants and hand out in local pubs they find by roaming around until all hours of the night. Avid cruisers can still have many of those same experiences, but generally prefer to have a pre-set itinerary when they travel. Cruisers also typically like to get “the biggest bang for their buck”, because with cruises lots of things are included in the price that are not usually included in the price of a hotel room (i.e. food, entertainment, etc.).
With rare exception, a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the scheduled return date to your home country is required. We recommend that all guests traveling outside their home country have a passport before traveling, even when it is not required.
River cruises are very relaxing, with much more varied scenery than you’d experience on an ocean cruise. These ships often also feature several stops along the river in the city or village center, so passengers can enjoy a greater variety of destinations to explore and a more immersive cultural experience. River cruises tend to be on much smaller ships than ocean cruises, with most ships having fewer than 100 cabins. This provides for a much more intimate feeling than most ocean cruises. If you enjoy staying at boutique hotels, you will probably enjoy river cruising. Most river cruise companies offer more inclusions than most ocean cruises do. For example, many river cruises offer things like an included excursion in every port and complimentary soft drinks, wine and beer with lunch and dinner.
Cruise prices can vary quite a bit, with budget cruise lines offering more bare bones experiences at a lower cost and luxurious all-inclusive cruise lines offering 6-star amenities costing much more. Budget lines can offer cruises from as low as $40 or $50 per person per night, while the more premium experiences can reach in excess of $1,000 per person per night for the least expensive suite on the ship. The most popular cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Princess, P&O, Holland America, Cunard, Disney and Oceania are priced at various levels in between. Booking early usually enables you to take advantage of promotional offers and secure both the best pricing and availability.
Well, that is a BIG question! The answer is usually best determined by trying a variety of different cruise lines at different price points when you first start cruising, and then you can answer that question for yourself.
The truth is that not all cruise lines are created equally, and every cruise lines caters everything about their product with their target demographic in mind. For example, Carnival and MSC tend to focus on delivering an experience and price point that usually attracts a more budget conscience family cruising client, while NCL, Royal Caribbean and Disney deliver more up-scale amenities, food and service to the family cruising marketplace at a higher price. All of these cruise lines have robust kids and teen programs, waterslides, and some even have zip lines and rock-climbing walls.
Other cruise lines like Princess, Celebrity, Holland America and Cunard tend to focus more on couples and multi-generational family groups, so they still have good activities and facilities for kids, but you won’t see waterslides and zip lines on their ships. Kids are accommodated and entertained on their ships, but the focus is on mom and dad (or Grandma and Grandpaw). And then you have the 5-star and 6-star premium and luxury lines like Oceania, Viking (adults 18+ only), Silversea, Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas that have very few (if any) kids and teens on the ship at all. These lines deliver a gourmet dining experience, personalized service, and remarkable attention to detail at a much higher price point.
Why not? Going on a cruise is a great way for you and your new spouse to be pampered with luxury whilst also being able to explore a new region of the world. Whether you’re taking a cruise to Hawaii or a cruise in the Greek islands, a particularly romantic experience is almost guaranteed thanks to the sheer number of both things to do and experiences to be enjoyed together. It is even possible to plan your destination wedding on some ships or at certain ports of call.
Most cruises are not all-inclusive. Generally speaking, most of your food, water by the glass, self-service coffee and iced tea are including on most cruise lines. Soft drinks, specialty coffees, fresh fruit juice, milk-shakes, smoothies, mocktails, alcoholic beverages, scooped ice cream and gelato, and specialty restaurants cost extra on most cruise lines. The exception to that rule is If you’re interested in one of the more all-inclusive upscale/luxury cruise lines. Perkopolis Cruises is delighted to offer up to $1,500 per cabin in exclusive benefits like shore excursions credit, on top of any additional promotion offered by the cruise line you may be considering. You can also add-on additional items such as drinks packages and specialty dining if not included after your booking has been made.
